Hiking & Mountain Biking

Hiking is the simplest way to get outdoors and enjoy our beautiful mountain scenery — there are tons of nearby trails whether you are looking for something easy, or a more challenging hike. There are also bike rentals and biking trails to explore!

Boating

With several bodies of water in our area, there is plenty of opportunities to get out on the water! Rent a boat, jet skis or a paddleboard and head to one of our popular lakes or reservoirs like Deer Creek Jordanelle, or Strawberry!

Homestead Crater

Located in Midway, UT the Homestead Crater offers visitors to the area a one-of-a-kind experience. Visit this geothermal spring for swimming, snorkeling or even scuba diving in this warm, mineral water spring.  

River and Lake Fishing – Affordable Lodging

In addition to water sports, the lakes, rivers, and streams in the area are perfect for fishing. Rainbow Trout can be found in all three nearby Reservoirs; Deer Creek, Jordanelle, and Strawberry. Deer Creek and Jordanelle are also known to have Brown Trout, Bass, and Yellow Perch. Strawberry Reservoir is home to Cutthroat Trout, Smallmouth Bass, and even Kokanee Salmon.

We are also located close to many rivers with excellent fly fishing, including the Provo River. The Provo River has brown, cutthroat, and rainbow trout; as well as walleye, white bass and carp.

ZipLines

Experience the thrill of soaring over our mountainous terrain with one of the many zip lines in our area. There are even some record-breaking zip lines, including the longest zip line over water, the longest continual zipline and second longest zipline in the continental U.S.!

Golfing

Are you an avid golfer? While a “golf vacation” might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a trip to the Utah mountains, there are several golf courses within 5 miles of Heber City, so don’t forget to bring your clubs!

ATV Rentals

Prefer to ride through the great outdoors in style? Rent an off-road vehicle from one of the rental services around town and adventure through one of our many nearby ATV trails and off-roading areas.

Skiing & Snowboarding

This one is obvious, Utah is known for great skiing and snowboarding. There are many ski resorts within a short drive from our location. We are only a few minutes from Deer Valley Resort, and Snowbird, Alta, Solitude, Brighton and Park City Mountain Resort are also within an hour drive. Enjoy all of the benefits of skiing these popular resorts, without spending a fortune on resorts by staying at our affordable lodging. You may also want to visit Utah Olympic Park, where you can check out the Ski Museum and see where many events in the 2002 Olympics took place.

Snowmobiling

There are many great snowmobile rentals available in Heber City and the surrounding areas, so you can be zooming over crisp while snowdrifts in no time! Then stop by one of the many cafes in town for a hot cup of cocoa or coffee.

Midway Ice Castles

Midway, UT, less than 5 miles from Heber, is home to some of the most fantastic ice creations you will see, the Midway Ice Castles. Thousands of icicles are used to build the structures. They include ice thrones, fountains, and tunnels.

Park City, UT

Home to the Sundance Film Festival, there is plenty to do and see in Park City. There is a multitude of restaurants and boutiques along the historic main street, as well as an outlet mall, and other shopping centers nearby. Park City also hosts the Park Silly Farmers Market in the summer season.

Historic Heber Valley Railroad

Take a scenic ride on the historic Heber Valley Railroad! Board one of the steam locomotives and take a ride around the local lakes and beautiful mountain scenery.  There are also special event trains, like the Polar Express during the holiday season and Monday Night trains with food and entertainment and Raft ‘n Rails which incudes a train ride followed by a river rafting adventure.

Soldier Hollow

Soldier Hollow has activities for the whole family in any season. From tubing and mini snowmobiling in the winter to trains and sports programs in the summer. Soldier Hollow also hosts the Classic Sheepdog Championships.
